Bookish Days Celebration Calendar

I have created a page where I hope to chronicle (and continually update) all of the dates, events and commemorations for book lovers.
One of the best things about the bookish community is when we all band together to speak up, protect or celebrate the printed word. While there is plenty need to have very serious conversations about representation in books & publishing, fighting book bans, etc. there should always be time for all of us that love books to celebrate books!
So while there is all kinds of info across the internet for these kinds of "today in history" type events, I am also tracking events and historical tidbits from these bookish almanacs that I have on my shelf (all are worth picking up):
A Reader's Book of Days by Tom Nissley (2014)
An Almanac of Reading by Charles Lee (1940)
A Book of Days for the Literary Year Edited by Neal T. Jones (1984)
The Book Lover's Almanac by Alex Johnson (2023)
With books like these you get to learn cool things like:
On the day I am publishing this post, in 1943, Jack Kerouac was discharged from the Navy for headaches (via The Book Lover's Almanac by Alex Johnson).

And, on June 30, 1936, Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind would become the fastest selling novel in the U.S. with 50,000 books flying of the shelves (via A Book of Days for the Literary Year Edited by Neal T. Jones).

These are so fun to go through each morning, with a cup of coffee in hand. Hopefully you can join in the fun. So please do check out the book lovers calendar page, when you get a chance. Drop a note if you do and we can toast each other from across the internet. Cheers!
